Inspiration!

I am intrigued by where ideas come from. Is it divine inspiration as some composers claim? Is it some deep seated desire we all have as humans to be adventurers and try new things? Is it an expression of being creative beings that manifests itself in many different ways? I think it is a little of all of these things. Most of the time people have not been able to give me a good answer about where they came up with an idea. There is no "idea" area in the brain that is stronger in some people than others. Yet we have new ideas all of the time.
Mainly I believe ideas arise from observation of the world around us. A lot of times it is nature that sparks an idea. The pattern of shadows cast by sunlight through trees. Feathers on a bird. Mountains climbing out of the sea. Biomimicry I believe it is called when we imitate something in nature in a new way.
I see my 10 month old granddaughter, Remi, watching us and everything around her all of the time. We are her world and therefor her inspiration. Pretty scary when you think of it that way. As adults, we have a wider world to see and use to create new things. And, with the internet, there is basically no limit to what we can learn and do. It is a disregard for limitations I would like to instill in Remi if I can. That would be inspiring indeed.
