When to let go

I have been watching Remi pulling herself up to a standing position on objects for the last three of her 11 months of life. It was just in the last 2 weeks that she let go of the tables and chairs in our home and took her first real steps. What took so long?
The $1 Bet
Now, you may think this is a bit strange but, we like to make $1 bets in our house about silly things. One of those bets was when Remi would take her first three steps linked together. Remi has been pulling herself up shortly after she learned to crawl in February of 2021. We all bet Remi would walk in early June through July 4th. Closest to the date picked won the $1. We were all wrong by over a month. Why?
What other people see
I think what happened with our $1 bet is what happens in other parts of our lives. Other people have more confidence in our abilities than we have in ourselves. We all thought Remi had the ability to walk in June ... which she did. She just wasn't ready to let go.
Nobody can tell you when it is time to step out of your comfort zone and try something different. You may be "should" on; being told "you should do this" or "you should do that". No one likes being "should" on. When and if you start something new is totally up to you. It is important to know the people around you have more confidence in you than you probably imagine.
Remi is walking all of the time after letting go for the first time. Yes, she falls, gets tired, looks awkward and funny, but she is getting better and more confident every day. It is so cool to watch. You can achieve your goals the same way. Do things in your time frame and don't let anyone "should" on you.
